About the Role

Due to continued growth, Mader Group is seeking Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced Riggers to join our roaming shutdown and infrastructure maintenance crews across the Bowen Basin and Galilee Basin.

  • Multiple mine sites

  • Multiple roster options

  • 4–6 week roaming shutdowns

  • Infrastructure & Fixed Plant focus

Rigger Levels & Responsibilities

Beginner Rigger

Ideal for those early in their rigging career looking to gain coal experience.

Key Duties:

  • Basic dogging and lifting operations

  • Set-up and pack-down of rigging equipment

  • Support structural, mechanical, and infrastructure maintenance works

  • Maintain high safety standards and follow lift plans


Intermediate Rigger

For experienced riggers confident working independently on standard lifts.

Key Duties:

  • Perform intermediate rigging and dogging tasks

  • Execute planned lifts in accordance with site procedures

  • Assist with shutdown and infrastructure maintenance activities

  • Interpret lift plans, drawings, and permits

  • Inspect and maintain rigging equipment


Advanced Rigger

For highly skilled riggers experienced in complex and critical lifts.

Key Duties:

  • Lead and execute advanced and complex lifts

  • Develop and review lift studies and lift plans

  • Coordinate with supervisors, crane operators, and crews

  • Mentor junior and intermediate riggers

  • Ensure compliance with QLD coal mining and site-specific standards

What You’ll Need

Mandatory

  • High Risk Work Licence:

    • RB / RI / RA (depending on level)

  • Valid Driver’s Licence

  • Construction White Card

  • Commitment to safety and teamwork

Highly Regarded/Willing to obtain

  • QLD Coal Board Medical

  • Standard 11 Statement of Attainment

  • Confined Space & Working at Heights

  • Gas Testing Atmospheres

  • Forklift or HR Licence

  • Previous coal mining or heavy industrial experience
